Greene County GIS Wins 2019 Ohio Best Practices Award


The Greene County GIS Program was awarded the Ohio Geographically Referenced Information Program (OGRIP) 2019 GIS Best Practices Award at the annual Ohio GIS Conference.  The award recognizes organizations in Ohio that have or are implementing GIS in a manner consistent with OGRIP’s goals and objectives and integrate GIS into their organizational operations and as well as their community.

Greene County GIS was also recognized by conference attendees with a first place win in the Interactive Map Gallery competition for their Tornado Assessment Application.  This application, developed shortly after the 2019 Memorial Day tornado, provided impacted communities access to damage assessment information and imagery to quicken aid and relief efforts.

Greene County GIS has been at the forefront of GIS technology since 1991 and has won numerous awards for its innovative use of GIS technology including the prestigious ESRI Special Achievement in GIS.

The Greene County GIS team is led by GIS Manager Travis Owens and is a division of the Greene County Auditor’s Office under Auditor David Graham.
