The Greene County Mounted Search Team (GCMoST) is a non-profit organization. We are volunteers, working to help city, county, state, and other government agencies find, aid, and assist the lost and/or injured hiker, hunter, adult, child, or others in need.
According to Greene County Sheriff Gene Fischer, “These mounted search volunteers give their time, talent, and energy to provide resources we otherwise would not have at our disposal. A horse and rider can reach wooded or isolated areas not visible from an air search, and reach them faster than someone on foot. They are a value to our department and our community, particularly with the realities of economics and continuing budget cuts for municipalities.”
The Greene County Mounted Search Team provides local law enforcement with volunteer horse and rider teams for aide with official searches for missing persons, articles, and evidence, as well as disaster assistance. The team operates in conjunction with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Greene County Chapter of the Ohio Horseman’s Council.
The Greene County Mounted Search Team is a non-profit organization, funded solely by members and donations. If you would like to make a contribution to the organization, you may do so through the Greene County Ohio Horseman’s Council by mailing a check to Herb Rider, 419 Beatty Dr., Xenia, OH 45385; please designate your donation is for the Greene County Mounted Search Team.
