Juvenile Court CoVid-19 Notice

Greene County Juvenile Court will continue to hear cases and is issuing decisions without interruption despite the challenges that CoVid-19 presents. It is the responsibility of the court to ensure that it continues to operate during a public health crisis. We have taken steps to prioritize the well being of our staff and the youth detained in the Greene County Juvenile Detention Center and the Miami Valley Juvenile Rehabilitation Center, both located in our Court complex. Furthermore, we are taking all necessary precautions and monitoring the fluid events of this highly communicable disease on a day to day basis.

Greene County Juvenile Court Response to the Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Greene County Juvenile Court will continue to hear cases and is issuing decisions without interruption despite the challenges that Covid-19 presents. It is the responsibility of the court to ensure that it continues to operate during a public health crisis. We have taken steps to prioritize the wellbeing of our staff and the youth detained in the Greene County Juvenile Detention Center and the Miami Valley Juvenile Rehabilitation Center, both located in our Court complex. Furthermore, we are taking all necessary precautions and monitoring the fluid events of this highly communicable disease on a day to day basis.
As a result of Governor DeWine declaring a state of emergency on March 9, 2020, Greene County Juvenile court will follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Ohio Department of Health (ODH), and Greene County Public Health (GCPH) regarding recommendations for the prevention of Covid-19 and any other respiratory virus.
To prevent the spread of Covid-19, the court is encouraging staff and courthouse visitors to practice social distancing from one another. Furthermore, the cleaning schedule inside the building has increased and a checklist has been created identifying each and every area of the building to be regularly sanitized. Extra cleaning details have been assigned with an emphasis placed on high touch areas.
Please note that all court groups and programs have been suspended at this time so as to reduce the possible transmission of any viruses. This includes the following:

Victim Awareness Group
Parenting the Love and Logic Way
Character Chronicles
Diversion Awareness groups
Stop Shoplifting Class
Girl’s Circle
Life Skills
Sparks
Girl’s on the Run
Parent Project
Intervention Center
Anger Management
Substance Abuse Groups

Some court business can be conducted remotely and without the necessity of filings being presented in person. All filings can be scanned and emailed to Juvenile-Clerk@co.greene.oh.us. The court may contact parties in advance for any hearings that we hope to conduct by telephone rather than in person, such as pretrials. However, most court business is still being conducted in person.
The COVID-19 situation continues to evolve rapidly. As such, we ask for your flexibility and assistance as we continue to move forward and make daily operational decisions. As we continue to serve the public we will remain focused on doing so in a way that promotes public health and safety.
