The Appellate Division is responsible for all criminal appeals involving felonies in Greene County. The bulk of the caseload are appeals of right to the Court of Appeals of Greene County, Second Appellate District. Most appeals are taken by people who have been convicted of crimes and are claiming some violation of their rights. On occasion, the prosecutor may also appeal rulings by the trial court that are adverse and would prevent a successful prosecution. Occasionally, the Prosecutor's Office handles appeals involving civil cases for statutory clients.
