Mission and Purpose:
  The mission of the Juvenile Court is stated in Section 2151.01 and Section 2152.01 of the Ohio Revised Code and the Rules of Juvenile Procedure as promulgated by the Supreme Court of Ohio.  The guidelines are as follows:
  1. To provide for the care, protection and mental and physical development of children;
  2. To protect the public interest by establishing programs which provide supervision, care and rehabilitation to juveniles in need;
  3. To achieve the above stated purpose, whenever possible, in a family environment, separating a child from his/her parents only when it is deemed necessary for his/her welfare or in the interest of the community.
  4. To provide judicial procedures in which all parties are assured of a fair hearing and where their constitutional and other legal rights are duly recognized and enforced.
Philosophy:
  The Greene County Juvenile Court is committed to every child's right to grow up in a healthy, supportive, nurturing environment with caring and responsible adult guidance.  The Court recognizes that each child possesses unique talents and skills and is valuable to society.  This Court is, therefore, committed to bringing together public and private resources to encourage the formation and maintenance of an effective system of child care.

A holistic approach is used to emphasize our commitment to the above philosophy.  This approach utilizes community protection, accountability, and client self-growth as its foundation.  The Court endeavors to stay abreast of new techniques dealing with adolescents and families, which empower them to make appropriate choices.

The Court will ensure proper client supervision, family participation, community agency involvement and appropriate program application through ongoing staff development and education.  All Juvenile Court staff members are properly licensed for the functions they perform.  Additional formal education, workshops and seminars are a part of ongoing staff development and training.
