The mission of the
Juvenile Court is stated in Section 2151.01 and Section
2152.01 of the Ohio
Revised Code and the Rules of Juvenile Procedure as
promulgated by the Supreme Court of Ohio. The
guidelines are as follows:
- To provide for the care,
protection and mental and physical development of
children;
- To protect the public
interest by establishing programs which provide
supervision, care and rehabilitation to juveniles in
need;
- To achieve the above stated
purpose, whenever possible, in a family environment,
separating a child from his/her parents only when it
is deemed necessary for his/her welfare or in the
interest of the community.
- To provide judicial
procedures in which all parties are assured of a
fair hearing and where their constitutional and
other legal rights are duly recognized and enforced.

The Greene County
Juvenile Court is committed to every child's right to
grow up in a healthy, supportive, nurturing environment
with caring and responsible adult guidance. The
Court recognizes that each child possesses unique
talents and skills and is valuable to society.
This Court is, therefore, committed to bringing together
public and private resources to encourage the formation
and maintenance of an effective system of child care.
A holistic approach is used to
emphasize our commitment to the above philosophy.
This approach utilizes community protection,
accountability, and client self-growth as its
foundation. The Court endeavors to stay abreast of
new techniques dealing with adolescents and families,
which empower them to make appropriate choices.
The Court will ensure proper
client supervision, family participation, community
agency involvement and appropriate program application
through ongoing staff development and education.
All Juvenile Court staff members are properly licensed
for the functions they perform. Additional formal
education, workshops and seminars are a part of ongoing
staff development and training. |
